Hi, my name is 孙雨晴 SUN Yuqing—SUN is my family name, and “Yu” and “Qing” mean “rain” and “sunny” in Chinese. I’m a Chinese BJD artist inspired by cultural traditions. My brand, Botodoll, focuses on interpreting Chinese traditional culture, and may explore other cultural themes in the future. Right now, my dolls are made from resin, but I’m also experimenting with porcelain and hope to try more materials down the road.
In 2015 I dropped out of my clothing engineering program in China and started traveling to explore different cultures. In 2021, driven by my passion for philosophy, I moved to France to continue my studies, and also completed a one-year exchange in Germany along the way.
Studying philosophy helps me better understand how our perceptions—of time, space, feelings, and emotions—are transformed into thoughts, and vice versa. It’s a topic I’ve always been passionate about.
